How to clean hardwood floors

cleaning hardwood-floors

Hardwood floors can reduce allergens and can last a long time with proper care. Part of that maintenance is cleaning your beautiful hardwood finishes. In addition to your regular sweeping routine, you’ll want to give your wood floors a good cleaning now and then to remove stains and restore their natural beauty.

Before you start, sweep or vacuum the floor with a hard floor attachment to remove hair or crumbs. For safe, effective use on wood surfaces*, dilute ¼ cup of your favorite Pine-Sol® Multi-Surface Cleaner in one gallon of water in a bucket. Mop your floor with this mixture to a beautiful, shiny glow. To avoid warping or streaking, do not let the cleaner or other liquids pool on your flooring.

For tougher stains and stubborn shoe marks, use full strength Pine-Sol® Multi-Surface Cleaner applied directly. You can even scrub lightly with an old toothbrush or sponge, though you should avoid steel wool or scouring pads. When your cleaning is complete, rinse the area with water.

Try the Outdoor Fresh scent on your floors to bring the smell of summer indoors.

*Not recommended for use on unsealed, waxed, oiled, or visibly worn wood.
